Dharchula, a town in the region of Pithoragarh in the northern state of India, is located in a valley on the coast of the Kali River, on the Trans-Himalaya trade routes. Om Parvat, also known as Adi Kailash, Little Kailash, Jonglingkong Peak, Baba Kailash and Chhota Kailash, is a popular region of pilgrimage close to Adi Kailash Mountain and in the Himalaya Mountain Range of India. If you would like to reach this mountain, where the snow accumulating at the peak is thought to resemble OM breathing and which is considered holy, you can join hiking tours in the region. You should allocate one day for Chirkila Dam, which is located 20 kilometers away from the city center and constructed along Kali River that provides energy to nearby regions, and have a walk in nature and make use of picnic points here. Kapileshwar Mahadev Temple, which is famous for exotic views of the Himalayas and devoted to Lord Shiva, is 3 kilometers far from Pithoragarh. After visiting this ancient cave temple devoted to Lord Shiva (Mahadev), you can explore Kapileshwar Mahadev cave nearby. The most impressive characteristic of Nakuleshwar Temple, another temple devoted to Lord Shiva, is its Khajuraho style architecture. Tibetan salt and wool are still traded in Dharchula Bazaar, which is at a 15-minute walking distance from the south of Purang, today. In the bazaar, which consists of 6 or 7 rows of shops, you can find clothes, jewelry, coffee and perfumes to gift to your beloved ones and for your home. It would be appropriate to plan your journey to Dharchula by avoiding the monsoon and winter season. For this reason, the best period to travel to Dharchula is the time between September and January.
