About Hong Kong

Hong Kong is one of the financial and commercial centers of Asia, which was under the sovereignty of UK for many years and reclaimed by China in 1997 according to the treaty between the two nations. Hong Kong is famous for its high-rise buildings and skyscrapers. Although it is now Chinese territory, Hong Kong retains an European atmosphere and culture as it was a British property for many years. The city is thus an interesting mix of two civilizations.

Consisting of 26 islands, Hong Kong has trade centers, administrative buildings and public bodies on Hong Kong Island. Other islands are home to entertainment centers and beaches. In spite of its modern architecture it bears Asian traces with its bazaars and food. Hong Kong is always humid since it is located on the coast of the sea. In summer, the average temperature is around 28 ℃  which drops to 15 ℃ in winter.

The summer months are quite rainy due to the monsoon tropical climate. It would be better to visit the city in winter months due to the heavy precipitation. The biggest disadvantage is that this city is too crowded. In some areas you can barely walk on the streets because of the crowd. The metro is a popular means of transportation but it too is very crowded. In the end, Hong Kong is the most densely populated city in the world, so outside of the northern rural districts you will always be around a lot of other people.

If you don't mind the crowd, you can take a walk on the streets and take in this city's unique urban environment. Hong Kong is cheap and full of options in terms of shopping. Chinese food and tea are the most crucial elements of the local cuisine. You can take the bus or train or rent a car or taxi to reach the city from the airport.
