Michigan City is a city in the state of Indiana in the United States. The city is located approximately 50 miles east of Chicago and 40 miles west of South Bend. According to the population census conducted in 2010, over 30,000 people reside in this city. The Old Michigan City Light, Marquette Mall, Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and Lake Michigan are some of the significant locations in the city. The city of Michigan City dates back to the 1830s. Michigan City was founded in 1836; at the time, it had a population of 1,500. There was a single post office, one newspaper, one church, one commercial district, and about 10 hotels in the city.

This airport is approximately 45 minutes away from the city center of Michigan City and has public transportation from the airport to the city center.
